Sorry, its been a while since my last post, miss me??

Let me tell you, one of my biggest pet peeves is people who lie, but of course I also believe that “everybody lies” in the words of the forever genius and always lovable Dr. House.  So if everybody lies, then how will we know what they’re lying about?  Well Dr. Cal Lightman has spent his whole life studying people and how they lie, more specifically, what they look like and what they do when they lie.  After working for a while with different government agencies, he decided to start his own company and consult with different government agencies and just about any other company that needs the truth about something.  Sounds technical right? well it is, but the writers as well as Dr. Lightman (Tim Roth) put a great and pretty hilarious spin on things. Apparently this show is based on an actual person who has accomplished many of these things himself and was the inspiration for this show.

A typical episode goes something like this, someone hires Dr. Lightman for an investigation or an event that they need monitored and he and his team figure out who’s lying.  Of course the problem is that everyone around him is usually lying about something, so once again, he and his team have to sort through all the lies to find the one that is affecting that situation.  The cool part that we get to see and learn about is how they deduce who is lying and who isn’t.  Every step of the way, it is explained to us what micro-expression they saw and what it meant, or what shoulder shrug, and so on… Not to mention, the show is extremely entertaining, especially since stupid liars are caught and punished (obviously its not for their lies, its for what they’re lying about, but I would like to believe it’s the latter).

Fox was impressed by the mid-season premier of Lie to Me, so impressed that they offered Lie to Me a renewal before the season finale. I’m also rating this show as a MUST SEE!

Castle was introduced by ABC late in the television season with a short 10 episode stint.  A lot of people didn’t get a chance to watch it and some have never even heard of it.  ABC is notorious for introducing shows at the very end of the television season and giving them 9 or 10 episodes to prove themselves.  Their strongest example of that would be Grey’s Anatomy.  Grey’s Anatomy’s initial season consisted of 9 episodes at the very end of the television season and is now one of the most watched shows on television. This past season, ABC was hoping to do the same with Castle. So far, they’ve gotten off to a pretty good start.  Season 1 of Castle did pretty well and was renewed for at least 16 episodes in this coming season.  Castle is a show about a fiction novelist and a detective, who team up in order to solve crime. Obviously, its not just that simple, there is a background story, but I wanna give you a chance to check it out for yourself.  Now, I know what everyone is thinking “just what I need, another cop show.” Well, you’re right and you’re wrong, the reason there are so many cop shows and the reason why they succeed is because they’re so easy to make, the story lines are essentially already written for you and people tune in to watch them.  This is not a typical law and order type of cop show though, this show has a very comedic and laid back twist to it.  Nathan Fillion plays Richard Castle, a novelist who is working on his new set of books and is essentially helping the police with their investigations as “research” which is what he called it.  Stana Katic (Weirdo!) plays the head detective whom Castle is following and essentially assisting with murder investigations, obviously driving her insane and creating an extremely entertaining show for us viewers. Behind Fringe, Castle was probably the best new show of the 2008-2009 television season. If you’re a fan of cop shows and have always wished that they would lighten up a little bit on Law and Order, then you’re gonna love this show!

I’m rating Castle as a MUST SEE!

Season 2 premiers on Monday September 21st at 10pm on ABC.

For a years, scifi geeks (such as myself) obsessed over the X-Files.  All the unrealistic UFO conspiracies and the alien scary voodoo, who can sleep at night with all that on their minds?  Well, the X-files has been over for a while now, and the recent X-files movie totally sucked, so what is a scifi fanatic suppose to do during the year? Well this past year, Fox had the answer; a new show called Fringe.

Fringe is about a group of people who are trying to run fringe experiments, using the whole world as their petri dish, these occurrences are referred to as “the pattern.” In response, the FBI put together a task force of an FBI agent name Olivia Dunham, a former scientist (Dr. Walter Bishop) who was institutionalized and is usually connected to these weird experiments through his past work at Harvard and his equally brilliant son (Peter Bishop) who has been a delinquent his whole life. Sounds great huh? not really! Sure, on paper its about as boring as it gets, but you have to watch in order to believe.

This show is probably one of the best shows on television right now.  Lots of scary and suspenseful moments that keep you on the edge of your seat. It has an overly complicated storyline that is difficult to follow over a whole season, mixed in with some actual scientific theory, making it the perfect scifi series for those who have half a brain.  Of course, if you’re not into scifi than you’re not gonna like it whether you have a brain or not.  The writers of Fringe have been able to put together an amazing story line that consists of multiple smaller story line that stem from the main story line and somehow relate back to the main story again.  Obviously, everyone has their own life on the show, and that life is shared with us in a minimal fashion without steering too far away from the main story.

Fox has moved Fringe from Tuesday nights to Thursday nights starting this Fall! I’m gonna rate this show as a MUST SEE!!

Season 2 Premiers on September 17th on Fox at 9pm

Welcome everyone to my new blog.  This blog has a very basic purpose, and that is for me to share my opinions and judgments of the episodes of some of the most popular shows on television today, with you! Many of you who know me already know about all the shows that I watch, and those who know me well know of my huge obsession with House.

The previous season of house (season 5) was probably the most boring and most disappointing season of House as of yet.  Which is a shame really considering that season 4 was probably the best (by far).  Season 4 had me excited and guessing for most of every episode. Everyday Tuesday night after the show, I found myself wanting more and more of house.  Then of course the writer’s strike happened, and I couldn’t get any work done from December to March. The two part season finale of season 4 were probably two of the best episodes of any shows that I’ve ever seen in my life (more so the first part of the finale).  It was clearly thought out, planned and executed to perfection, which is much more than I can say for just about any episode in season 5.  Yea I get it, people respond better when there’s more drama and more meddling into people’s lives, but apparently the produces forgot why they started this show to begin with, its suppose to be a medical drama, so where was the medicine? The whole time all we were worried about is 13 and Foreman and their struggle with her disease or what’s going to happen with Huddy, that we completely forgot about the patients and what crazy and cool disease they have that House used his genius mind to figure out.

So please allow me to use my first post as a plead to Katie Jacobs and David Shore:

Please bring house back! I’m sick of all the useless personal drama that I can get from watching Grey’s Anatomy or just about any daytime soap opera.  I want the medical mystery back! Sure, if you wanna mix in some of the mindless dribble with the medical mystery that’s fine, I’ll be happy to ignore it as a subplot, but please stimulate my neurons a little more so I don’t fall asleep this season!

The House 2-hour season 6 premier will be on September 21st at 8pm on Fox.

P.S. I will do my best to comment about every show that I can (God knows I have nothing better to do) but I will surely miss something, so please don’t be upset with me!
